Shadow Ranch Vineyard

Winery Overview
Shadow Ranch is a small, family-owned Fair Play AVA winery set on a hilltop ranch with an 1888 homestead, old barn, and original outbuildings. Its ten-acre estate vineyard is planted to Sauvignon Blanc, Tempranillo, Petite Sirah, Zinfandel, and Grenache in well-drained decomposed granite soils, with organically farmed vines and solar-powered operations.
The tasting experience leans into the ranch setting, with a tasting room and boutique, shaded picnic areas beneath oak trees, and tables on the Tasting Room Terrace. Guests can expect small-batch wines, including estate varieties and single-vineyard bottlings from high-elevation El Dorado sites, with Friday-through-Sunday hours and a relaxed outdoor format.
Before You Go
Shadow Ranch is a Fair Play stop where the site matters: hilltop exposure, decomposed granite, and organic farming are part of the winery’s own vineyard story. The wine list moves across Sauvignon Blanc, Grenache, Tempranillo, Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Rhône-style blends, and other small-batch bottlings.
Plan this as a slower visit if you want to use the terrace or picnic areas. Outside food is allowed on the patio, dogs are welcome on leash, and the winery offers charcuterie year-round with summer Sunday pizzas.
