About the Winery
Bumgarner Winery is a family-led El Dorado producer founded around Jennifer and Brian Bumgarner’s vision of wines that reflect the character of the region. Its presence stretches across both Camino and Fair Play, with the Fair Play tasting room perched at 2,750 feet in a ridge-top oak riparian setting that helps define the winery’s high-elevation identity.
The wines are presented through two distinct visitor settings, both offering tasting flights, glass pours, and bottle service, with cider also part of the experience. Camino feels more casual and table-side, while Fair Play leans into views, sunsets, and a farther-out sense of place that makes the visit feel more tied to the landscape.

Bumgarner is a good stop to recalibrate around El Dorado reds, especially if you want to see how elevation can shape a bolder style. Cabernet Sauvignon is a clear part of the program, and Tempranillo has enough importance here that it helps give the lineup a slightly different center of gravity.
If you visit Fair Play, dress for the ridge rather than the valley floor, because the winery specifically notes quick weather shifts and wind. If you want a more relaxed entry point, Camino offers a softer landing with table-side service, while still giving you access to the same overall Bumgarner identity.
